SMU safety Ahmaad Moses has been named the Walter Camp National FBS Defensive Player of the Week, following a dominant performance in the Mustangs’ upset win over No. 10 Miami.
Moses posted a career-high 15 tackles, including two tackles for loss, and recorded two key interceptions, both leading to SMU touchdowns, including a game-sealing takeaway in overtime.
With this honor, Moses becomes just the sixth SMU player to receive a Walter Camp National Player of the Week award and the first Mustang defender to do so since 2016.
The Mansfield Summit alum now ranks tied for first nationally in total interceptions (5) and leads the conference in interceptions per game (0.56). He anchors an SMU defense that ranks first in the nation in turnovers gained (22), fourth in interceptions (14), and fourth in red zone defense (0.647).
This week’s recognition adds to Moses’ growing list of honors, including Senior Bowl Stock Up Defensive Player of the Week and ACC Defensive Back of the Week. Earlier this season, he was named ACC DB of the Week for his 95-yard pick-six against East Texas A&M.
