Highland Park Enters Exclusive 900 Wins Club

Highland Park is one of the winningest programs in the country. The Scots notched their 900th recently.

FRISCO-  Last Friday night's thrilling 34-31 win over Denton Ryan in round five of the 5A Division I playoffs, became the latest notch in the belt of one of the nation's top high school football programs.

Billed as “the winningest program in Texas,” the Scots last second victory marked the 900th win in program history.

Highland Park became just the eighth program to scale the 900 wins plateau. 

Current Highland Park head coach Randy Allen has been on the sideline for 307 (or 34%) of those all-time wins. Allen arrived at Highland Park in 1999.

The Less Than 1%

A quick & less than scientific cursory Google search claims there are 26,727 high schools in the United States. 

According to a 2023 data study conducted by The National Fédération of High Schools there were 15,810 high school football teams in the country.

Highland Park is the newest member of the most exclusive fraternity. The Scots are one of just 8 programs nationally to post 900 wins. That’s well below 1%.

Truly ratified air.

The Lone Star

Surprisingly, Highland Park is the lone program in football-crazy Texas to make this list. Though, there are five Texas schools with 800 + wins. Lone Star Coming.

Bluegrass Bluebloods

By almost any standard, from a data generated computer algorithm all the way down the line to Bucky Lives In His Parents Basement Poll, Kentucky has never been considered a football hotbed. By any stretch of anyone's imagination. Football in Kentucky is something you do between basketball and horse racing. Football is more of a novelty in Kentucky and ranks no higher than a distant third behind basketball and horse racing.

Yet, basketball mad Kentucky is the lone state to place multiple teams on the list. In fact, three of the 8 teams with 900+ wins hail from the Bluegrass State.
