TYLER, Texas – SMU quarterback Kevin Jennings has been named to the 2025 Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List, the organization announced this past Tuesday.
The award honors the top offensive player in Division I football who embodies the enduring characteristics of legendary Texas running back Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community, and tenacity, particularly the determination to overcome adversity in pursuit of success.
Nominees must also meet at least one Texas connection: born in the state, graduated from a Texas high school, played at a Texas junior college, or currently competing for a Texas-based Division I program.
Jennings, an Oak Cliff native, guided the Mustangs to a historic 2024 season, leading SMU to its first-ever College Football Playoff appearance and a perfect record in its inaugural year in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
The Jennings-led offense finished eighth nationally in scoring at 36.5 points per game, with the Mustangs’ 511 points ranking third-most in program history. Individually, Jennings passed for 3,245 yards, ranking 18th in the nation, and posted a 171.5 efficiency rating in ACC play, the conference’s best.
A finalist for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award in 2024, Jennings enters the 2025 campaign already on several prestigious national watch lists, including the Maxwell Award, Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, Davey O’Brien Award, and Manning Award.
