With just two weeks left in the regular season, there are a slew of big games remaining, as district championships remain on the line and the playoff picture comes into focus. Here's a look at some of the key week 10 matchups around the DFW Metroplex.

North Forney quarterback Legend Bey has quietly put together one of the more productive seasons of any player in the Metroplex in 2024. Bey has accumulated more than 2,200 yards of total offense in leading North Forney (6-2)(4-0) to the top of the District 10-6A standings. Bey, is a rising star who's put his team on his back all season. He'll face a stern test at Longview on Friday night. A road win at Longview with the district title on the line won't be easy. Coach John King’s Lobos are a tough nut to crack on their home field. Will the Legend continue to grow? We'll know soon.

In it's first year of varsity football, Prosper Walnut Grove (7-1)(5-1) has defied the longest of odds in a historical season that won't soon be forgotten. Last week, they took down a red hot Lovejoy squad 41-37. This week, they travel to Coach Kenny Deel Stadium where they'll face a Melissa team with it's season on life support. Walnut Grove has already punched it's playoff ticket, but the Wildcats have designs on a 4-5A Division II Championship and a No.1 seed. For that to happen, a win vs the Cardinals is a must.

For Melissa (5-3)(4-2), it's do or die. A win doesn't guarantee a spot in the playoffs as they'll still need a little help from Frisco Emerson to get in. A loss and it's time to shift their focus to basketball season and off season workouts.

Denton Guyer travels to Lewisville in a big time 5-6A matchup. While both teams are out of the running for an overall district championship, a No. 2 seed is the consolation prize for the winner. Denton Guyer has won three straight games thanks in large part to a salty Raiders defense that seems to get better every week. Lewisville counters with a strong rushing attack led by 1,000 yard rusher Tenel Hill.

Surprise, surprise, surprise. It's late October and Aledo is on the doorstep of a district championship… Drumroll please….for the 17th straight season.

This milestone for a program dubbed "Titletown", which has 125 consecutive district wins, looks primed and ready to make a run at another state title. A model of elite consistency, this program is among the best in America over the last two decades. All they do is win!!

Which is exactly what they hope to do Friday night in Azle. The task won't be easy as the upset minded Hornets await. After a week one loss to Denton Guyer, Aledo, ranked No. 1 in Class 5A Division I, has won seven straight games. Regardless of the outcome on Friday night, Azle (7-1)(5-1) has already secured a postseason berth, it's first in three seasons. The Hornets will attempt to improve their playoff seeding with a win over the Bearcats, while also measuring itself against the very best with the playoffs just over the horizon.
