GAME SUMMARY
On a memorable Homecoming night in Dallas, SMU pulled off one of the biggest wins in program history, defeating Miami 26–20 in overtime at Gerald J. Ford Stadium. The victory marked SMU’s highest-ranked win at Ford Stadium and its highest-ranked overall since upsetting No. 6 Pitt in the 1983 Cotton Bowl.
Before a sellout crowd of 35,074, the Mustangs (6-3, 4-1 ACC) battled through a defensive showdown that came down to the final series. Miami (6-2, 2-2 ACC) forced overtime after a late fourth-quarter rally, but SMU’s defense made the game-changing play in the extra period when Ahmaad Moses intercepted a pass in the end zone.
On the ensuing possession, TJ Harden powered across the goal line for a 1-yard touchdown, securing the upset victory and sending the Ford Stadium crowd into celebration.
The win extended SMU’s program-record 13 consecutive home conference victories and kept the Mustangs undefeated (7-0) in ACC home play since joining the league in 2024. Head Coach Rhett Lashlee improved to 2-1 in overtime games, as SMU won its second overtime contest of the 2025 season.
