Week 2 of the Tennessee High School Football Power Poll brings early clarity, and a few surprises, as some of the state’s top programs made strong statements right out of the gate. Baylor and McCallie lived up to their lofty preseason expectations with dominant wins, while defending powers like Oakland and Alcoa proved once again they know how to win close battles against quality opponents. Meanwhile, programs such as BGA and Ensworth turned in eye-catching performances to climb into the mix, and traditional heavyweights Maryville and Christ Presbyterian found themselves on the wrong side of hard-fought matchups. Heading into the second week of action, the picture is far from settled, but it is already clear that Tennessee’s 2025 season will be stacked with heavy competition across all divisions.
