It's almost over. Football goes into hibernation in just a couple more weeks. A National Day of Mourning is for sure.
The silver lining is two weeks’ worth of great games featuring the best teams in the state of Texas. Throughout the week we will preview each matchup as we head into the weekend.
Without further ado, here's the first installment of “The Week That Will Be” for Round 5.
The Week That Will Be…. DFW State Semifinal edition.
Two nationally ranked teams collide in a state semifinal rematch we've been waiting 365 days for.
Without a doubt the game of the year in Texas, if not the entire country. This one has it all. A pair of star-crossed rosters that produced 17 Division I signees last week. Two of the finest football minds in all of Texas in head coaches Reginald Samples and Ray Gates. The top QB & WR in the land in Duncanville's Dynamic Duo of QB Keelon Russell & WR Dakorien Moore.
And all that speed. On both sides of the ball, oh my!
The winner moves on to play for a state championship while the loser starts basketball practice a week early.
Southlake Carroll continues to impress in what might be head coach Riley Dodge's best coaching job yet. Despite losing two Power 4 RBs to injury, the Dragons continue to win week after week. This week they face a Longview squad responsible for embarrassing a Desoto team many pegged to win a second straight 6A Division II state title.
