DALLAS — SMU will host Baylor on Saturday at Gerald J. Ford Stadium in a matchup that will draw national attention. The game marks the first meeting between the programs since 2016, with the SMU Mustangs coming off their first College Football Playoff appearance last season.
Scouts and recruits are expected to be in attendance, including Waxahachie High School linebacker/edge Carmelo Clawson, a class of 2027 prospect who is high on the Mustangs recruiting board. Here are Clawson's thoughts on SMU and his visit to the Hilltop this weekend.
“I’m looking forward to getting back on the Hilltop this weekend,” Clawson said. “I’ve had good experiences at SMU, this will be my fourth or fifth time on campus. I love the direction the program is headed and how they played as a team in ACC last year. I hope to secure an offer soon and to possibly have the chance to play close to home in Dallas. SMU linebackers coach, Coach Maurice Crum and edges coach, Coach Sam Dunnam are my guys. They have kept in contact with and showed me lots of love during my recruitment”
Clawson currently holds an offer from Ole Miss and will continue evaluating opportunities as he heads into his junior season at Waxahachie.
