Two of the top quarterbacks in the 2026 class, Jacob Janecek from Lovejoy and Noah Schuback from Melissa, are set to clash in a high-stakes matchup with District 4-5A DII title hopes on the line. Both quarterbacks have impressed in the early weeks of the season, emerging as key playmakers for their respective teams.

Jacob Janecek has been on a tear lately, leading Lovejoy to a thrilling 66-62 victory over Anna in Week 4. In that game, he passed for 311 yards and 6 touchdowns, while also rushing for 133 yards and 2 touchdowns, showcasing his dual-threat ability. The week prior, Janecek helped Lovejoy score 76 points in a dominant win over Frisco Liberty. His strong arm, excellent pocket presence, and playmaking ability with his legs have been pivotal to Lovejoy’s offensive success, making him a central figure as they push for the district title.

Noah Schuback, who transferred to Melissa from Hoover, Alabama, has quickly adapted to his new team and has been playing at a high level. With a big arm and the ability to stretch defenses by pushing the ball downfield, Schuback has helped the Cardinals put up impressive offensive numbers, scoring 52, 66, and 70 points in consecutive games against Frisco, Frisco Memorial, and Frisco Liberty. Melissa is riding a 4-game win streak, and Schuback’s leadership and strong pocket presence have been a key factor. He recently picked up an offer from North Texas, signaling his rising stock as one of North Texas’s top quarterback prospects in the 2026 class.
