Jordan Ervin, a 6-foot-3, 240-pound athlete in the 2026 class out of Henderson High School (TX), is starting to gain momentum in his recruitment. A versatile prospect who excels at both tight end and edge rusher, Ervin recently took a visit to McNeese State, where he impressed the coaching staff and walked away with an offer. We caught up with the rising senior to talk about the visit, his reaction to the offer, and what’s next in his recruitment journey.
1. What was your overall impression of McNeese State during your visit?
"I loved McNeese State as soon as I stepped foot on campus. Myself and Coach Seglar talked all the way in the elevator up to the press box, they are all about family there."
2. How did it feel to receive the offer from the coaching staff while you were on campus?
"Every coach came up to me after the scrimmage was over and we talked for about 30 minutes. Coach Martin, the tight ends coach, told me to call him as soon as I got home. We talked for 15 minutes then he gave me the offer. #AGTG"
3. What stood out most to you about the program or campus during your time there?
"The coaching staff showed love for each other and their players. They are all about creating a family atmosphere and bringing the team together."
4. Did you get a chance to speak with any of the coaches one-on-one? What were those conversations like?
"I talked to about 5 different coaches, but the one I was talking to the most was Coach Seglar. He was hyped that I drove three hours to come check out their program. The offense they run at McNeese State is similar to the offense I run at Henderson. Each coach expressed how much that they want me to be apart of the McNeeses State program. #Geauxpokes!"
5. How do you see yourself fitting into their defensive or offensive system?
"I see myself fitting in well in their offensive system. The tight ends do numerous things from blocking, to catching and the tight end gets rushing attempts. I feel that the offensive side is where I fit within their program."
6. What was the energy like around the team and staff during your visit?
"Everyone was turnt, even the cameraman. They were loud, cheering the on the team during the scrimmage and showing love to the team. It showed me that you have to have lots of energy to be out there with those guys."

"McNeese State is definitely in my top two for sure!"
