For this article we spotlight class of 2026 quarterback Ziondre Williams from Anna High School.

Ziondre Williams is quickly emerging as one of the fastest-rising prospects in the 2026 recruiting class. Already recognized as a leader and playmaker, Williams has had an outstanding season, guiding the Coyotes to the playoffs for the second consecutive year. Since taking over as the starter during his sophomore season, he has transformed the trajectory of the program, leading Anna to a 4A Division I state championship in 2023. Now in his junior year, his game has matured significantly, earning him attention as one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in his class.

Williams possesses a well-rounded skill set that separates him from many of his peers. He has shown excellent decision-making with the football, consistently minimizing mistakes while maximizing his team’s offensive potential. His pocket presence is elite, as he remains composed under pressure and is adept at navigating a collapsing or muddy pocket to extend plays. Williams combines this with clean footwork and a quick release, enabling him to distribute the ball accurately and efficiently. His arm talent stands out, as he can make every throw on the route tree, driving the ball outside the numbers with zip while also showing exceptional touch on deep passes.

What truly makes Williams special is his dual-threat ability. Not only is he a polished passer, but he’s also a dangerous runner who can change the game with his legs. In the open field, his speed and elusiveness make him a constant threat to turn any play into a touchdown, giving defenses nightmares when he escapes the pocket. Whether it’s a designed quarterback run or a scramble, Williams has the athleticism to make highlight-reel plays. His ability to score from anywhere on the field makes him one of the most exciting players to watch.

The 2024 season brought a new challenge for Anna, as they transitioned from 4A to the highly competitive 5A Division II. While the Coyotes faced some early adversity, they found their rhythm late in the season and finished strong, earning another playoff berth. Much of that success can be credited to Williams’s leadership and playmaking ability. As Anna prepares for a second-round playoff matchup against Abilene Wylie, the Coyotes enter locked and loaded, with Williams at the helm.

His talent and leadership make him the key to Anna’s success and a potential deep playoff run. With a proven track record and a game that continues to improve, Ziondre Williams is not only poised to lead his team to more victories but is also cementing his place as one of the premier quarterback prospects in Texas high school football. If Anna is to make another run at a state title, their hopes rest on the shoulders of one of the brightest young talents in the state.
