YAA Junior National Showcase: Day One Standouts

The You Are Athlete Junior National Showcase brings together some of the top young talent from each regional showcase across the country. The event provides athletes an opportunity to be evaluated, identified, and gain valuable exposure that can help jumpstart the recruiting process.


Top performers from around the nation competed in Houston, showcasing their skills in front of evaluators and coaches. Day One focused on the trenches, linebackers, and running backs. The following athletes earned Top Performer recognition after strong showings throughout the day.


Javion Lewis

LB | 2030 | Monticello (AR) | @DeuceWill2


Lewis was selected as a Top Performer on Day One after an impressive showing at linebacker. The Arkansas native displayed great feet and moved well in space throughout the camp. He excelled during drill work, showed good ball skills in pass coverage, and won multiple reps during the linebacker versus running back competition. Lewis possesses a stout build, athleticism, and an extended reach that allows him to impact plays all over the field.


Jaxson Houston

LB | 2030 | L.D. Bell (TX) | @JaxsonHouston


At 6-foot and 190 pounds, Houston put together a strong performance throughout the day. He showed clean footwork, played fast, and displayed natural instincts during drills and competition periods. His ability to diagnose plays quickly and win reps in one-on-one situations helped him earn Top Performer recognition on day one.


Channing Wran III

LB | 2030 | Washington, D.C. | @ChanningWranIII


Wran III earned Top Performer honors after showcasing a complete skill set at linebacker. He displayed clean footwork, played with good leverage, and showed strong instincts in coverage. What stood out most was his ability to take proper angles to the football and consistently arrive under control while making plays.


Trent Blake

RB | 2031 | La Porte (TX) | @Trent_TB3


Blake was one of the more explosive running backs in attendance. The 2031 prospect showcased elite quickness and burst coming out of his cuts. He consistently created separation in space and demonstrated the ability to make defenders miss with his sudden change of direction and acceleration.


Jayden Wright

RB | 2031 | Summer Creek (TX)


Wright impressed evaluators with his combination of power and athleticism. He possesses a stout, compact frame and displayed fluid movement skills throughout the day. His elusiveness in space and speed to create separation at the second level helped him stand out among a talented running back group.


Jaden Pierre

RB | 2031 | Pennsylvania | Instagram: @Thejp123


Pierre showcased excellent footwork and creativity as a runner. He displayed the ability to make cuts without false steps and consistently changed directions while maintaining speed. His wiggle in the open field and ability to make defenders miss made him one of the top running backs on Day One.


Calvin Gamble

Gamble was impressive throughout the day thanks to his ability to create in space. He showed excellent elusiveness, a sharp jump cut, and the burst needed to separate from defenders. He also won multiple reps against linebackers during competition periods, demonstrating his playmaking ability in the passing game.


Zakai Cashmere

DL | 2030 | Manvel (TX) | @Zakai.Cashmere


Cashmere was one of the most disruptive defensive linemen in attendance. He showcased explosive first-step quickness off the ball, excellent lateral movement, and a relentless motor. His body control and ability to redirect quickly allowed him to consistently create pressure throughout the day.


Lenel Chavannes

DL | 2030 | Florida | @LenelChavanne


Chavannes stood out with his explosiveness and active hands. He consistently fired off the ball with urgency and showed violent hands at the point of attack. Combined with his body control, bend, and high motor, he was one of the top defensive line performers on Day One.


Zakeem Ruff

DL | 2030 | Michigan | @Zakruff11


Standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 190 pounds, Ruff possesses outstanding length and upside. He showcased quickness and burst off the football while displaying the ability to bend and run the arc as a pass rusher. His 83-inch wingspan immediately stands out and gives him tremendous developmental potential.


Austin Capaldi

Capaldi had a productive day rushing the passer. He displayed explosive first-step quickness, played with good leverage, and showed excellent lateral movement. His agility and ability to shift weight efficiently helped him win reps throughout the competition period.


Lincoln Coons

OL | 2030 | Arizona | @LincolnCoons_


At 6-foot-1 and 280 pounds, Coons showcased a solid blend of technique and physicality. He displayed good feet in pass protection, delivered a stiff punch at engagement, and mirrored defenders effectively. His ability to anchor and hold his ground at the point of attack helped him earn Top Performer recognition.


Bex Mason

OL | 2030 | North Carolina | @BexMason2030


Mason is a young offensive lineman with intriguing upside. At 6-foot-3 and 240 pounds, he possesses a lean athletic frame with plenty of room for growth. He showcased nimble feet, a long wingspan, and a strong punch at engagement while displaying sound technique throughout the day.


Dylan Washington

LB | 2031 | Klein (TX) | @DylanDWash1


Washington turned in a strong performance at linebacker. He showed good quickness and moved comfortably in space while maintaining control throughout drills and competition periods. His ability to win reps in one-on-one situations highlighted his instincts and athletic ability.


Ashton Brunner

LB | 2030 | Alabama | @Ashton_Brunner


Brunner is a linebacker prospect who continues to trend upward. He possesses a stout, compact build and showcased good hips and sound technique throughout the day. He consistently got downhill quickly and played with physicality. Brunner is a prospect to keep an eye on as he continues to develop in Alabama.


Cameron Brown

OL | 2030 | Toledo (OH) | @CameronBro99


At 6-foot-2 and 310 pounds, Brown brought size and physicality to the offensive line group. He showed good feet for a player his size and consistently delivered a stiff punch at engagement. Brown was physical at the point of attack and used his strength effectively throughout the day.


Day Two coverage will focus on quarterbacks, wide receivers, and defensive backs as the You Are Athlete Junior National Showcase continues in Houston.
