Defending DII-A champions survive a major scare from Tyner to remain undefeated.
Game of The Week
NASHVILLE- In a game featuring two undefeated teams, reigning Division II-A champion Nashville Christian held serve long enough to stave off a furious comeback bid from Tyner, to collect a hard fought 49-42 win.
Despite big nights offensively from its two stars-QB Jared Curtis and RB TJ Ward Jr-the Eagles couldn't put Tyner away.
Curtis, the Eagles highly-touted 5-Star field general threw for 312 yards and four touchdowns while Ward picked up 145 yards and two touchdowns to pace an Eagles ground game that rolled up 231 yards.
Defensively, NCS forced four Tyner turnovers, which led to a double digit lead late into the third quarter.
Yet, more than halfway through the fourth quarter Tyner was driving to take the lead until a fumble near the NCS 20 ended the drive.
From there, Curtis would take over driving the Eagles 80 yards, eventually scoring on a QB keeper to put the final margin at 49-42.
NCS extended it's winning streak to 17 consecutive games and moves to 8-0 on the season. Tyner suffered its first setback of the season to fall to 7-1.
