Week Three of the Tennessee high school football season is now behind us as teams turn their attention towards Week Four. Things will begin to heat up around the Volunteer State as region play begins next week. But before we move on to Week Four let's take one final look at Week Three in our weekly Setting The Pace feature.
The Week That Was…..
The McCallie machine keeps rolling. This time, The Blue Tornadoes steamrolled longtime nemesis Father Ryan, 52-0 and somehow, the score made it seem closer than the final scoreboard read.
With Tyner Academy’s thrilling 21-20 road win the Rams, who hadn't beaten their rivals Red Bank since 2013, served notice to the rest of Class 3A in Tennessee, that they mean business.Tyner Academy is a legit championship contender. Beware!
Walker Valley exorcised one of its most haunting demons Friday night, stunning long time nemesis McMinn County 54-42 in front of a raucous home crowd at Mahan-McClain Stadium. It marked the first time in program history, Walker Valley had beaten the Cherokees on their home field. Walker Valley has now won 2 of the last 3 meetings after going 0-15 in the previous contests.
Hello, East Ridge! Another gut check for the Pioneers, who slogged their way through a rain soaked Saturday afternoon to knock off Brainerd 7-6. The Pioneers are 3-0 for the first time since 2017.
Week Three across Tennessee delivered statement wins, long-awaited breakthroughs, and the kind of gritty performances that set the tone for the rest of the season. From McCallie’s dominance to Tyner Academy’s resurgence, from Walker Valley rewriting history to East Ridge’s resilient start, teams across the state reminded us why high school football is so special. With region play on the horizon in Week Four, the stakes only get higher. Setting The Pace will continue to track the stories, rivalries, and defining moments that shape this unforgettable season in the Volunteer State.
